Extra Amazing

Chris works ALL THE TIME now so I was so happy to get to spend some time with him last weekend. Although he did have to work about 6 hours on Saturday which was his DAY OFF we got to do some special things together. I love that man so much! And even though we did things that weren't out of the ordinary I hardly got to see him last week so our time together was EXTRA AMAZING.

It started with IKEA! IF Mormons practiced polygamy [we don't...you're welcome for the knowledge] and IF I was a man [I'm not] and IF it were possible to marry a store [let me check on that one] then I would marry IKEA! It's love people. I could spend hours in there and I believe we did on Saturday. We got the bedding and curtains that I have been dreaming about and plenty of other decor. And Chris got to hit up the food court so all in all it was a great time.

That night was date night! Ideal Date Night for the Hayes' : Subway (him) and a Movie (me)! We got some subs and went to see the movie Date Night which Chris pretty much pee laughed his way through. I was feeling awkward being at a movie without chocolate on hand [yes I ate the entire bag of PB M's by then] but it was a good time and a funny movie.

[Side Story: In the car at the theatre I ,of course, say we have to take a pic. Its so funny to me how Chris gets all stressed out when he is on the side that has to take the picture because he says he cant ever do it right.] Here is how they turned out...
Picture 1 - Me -"What is your hand doing?!"

Picture 2 - Me laughing at his hand in the first one and 1/2 of his face

Picture 3 - Chris - " WHY ARE WE GREEN?!"

[needless to say...we didn't take any more pics the rest of the night..haha!]

Sunday we visited the Mesa Temple! It is so gorgeous and I can't wait to see the inside soon. So thankful to be so close to this magnificent place. It is an extra amazing way to spend a Sunday afternoon!

ooh, the trials we face

the ENEMY...

the PROBLEM:

My wonderful mother sent us a package [with the cutest apron- pics to come!] and inside was a LARGE bag of PEANUT BUTTER M&M's. Yum! My biggest weakness!!! I'm not one of those people that feels guilty eating a handful of M&M's. This girl likes to eat. BUUUUT it becomes a problem when I am on my way to eating an ENTIRE 18 OUNCE BAG before Chris is even home from work [did i mention these were supposed to be for him...]. I am working from home so I am going a little crazy knowing those are sitting out in the open in a candy dish just one room over. It's taking all my willpower to not have them sitting in my lap while I am typing this so I can pop them like pills.

the SOLUTION:

1. I can see how fast I can eat the entire dish so they aren't there to tempt me 2. I can create an obstacle between me and the M's so it makes it hard for me to pop a few everytime I walk by [who is going to climb onto the counter and above the cupboards to find the chocolatey prize in a locked caboodle?.....or something along those lines :)] OR 3. Go spend the day working by the pool to create distance and hope the M&M leprechauns visit while I'm gone.

the MORAL:

Sweets should be kept sealed up. Candy Dishes are EVIL. I need to get a hobby.

i hope you got a chuckle out of my misery

Oh the trails we face...

i dig it.

We have been in Arizona for one week now and i gotta say... we're feelin it. I know some people have their opinions on the heat and how "you're gonna be singing a different tune once its 500 degrees outside" but i don't care to hear those opinions. This place is fitting us like an expensive pair of jeans. 'Why?' you ask. Well i'll tell you...
  • The nights - It is so relaxing here at night. It's calm and beautiful with Palm trees against the sky. It cools down a lot but not to where its chilly. Just the perfect temperature to just hang out on the patio or just dip your feet into the hot tub.

  • The friendly people - Everyone is so friendly here...people just talk to us like they know us. When we were first moving all our stuff in a lady driving by waved her hands and yelled WELLLLCCOOOOME. I loved it! And when i was walking out of the pool one day (and i have to point out that i was hunched over and walking like Quasimodo) a small group of people i would normally wrongfully label as 'dangerous looking' gave me a little 'hey how ya doing'...with a smile! Warmed my heart a little. I think the sun just makes people happy.

  • The food places - Reason enough for me to be here! The first night we were here we ate at Chili's since its my favorite restaurant and we dont have one in WA...and to my sheer amazement i found many other faves in that very shopping center that i haven't had in other places i have lived... Chick-fil-a, LL's (Chris' fave hawaiian place that he hasn't seen since living in HI), In-n-out, Pei Wei, Texas Roadhouse..and i'm sure we'll discover more.

One of our first meals here....Chicken sandwiches and 44 oz powerades!

  • The Circle K - This one needed its own description because of its magnitude. Ever since we left Rexburg we have been trying to replace our beloved Horkley's where we got GIANT fountain drinks daily for only 65 cents. We (especially husb who can drink a case of Rockstars in a week) need A LOT to drink so it makes a huge difference when we find a place that meets our needs. When we got to AZ we found The Circle K which offers 44 ouncers for 79 cents! Halleluja..life can go on! Now every night we say...should we stop by the Circ? Yeah...we're cool like that.

  • The palm trees, mountains and cactus -When we were on our way to an appointment to rent we saw a beautiful skyline with mountains in the distance and palm trees up close and i told Chris "i have a good feeling because i think going towards palm trees and mountains is a sign of good luck"...i don't know where these things come from. But now we believe it because our new apartment is right in that area. I'm obsessed with palm trees btw.
  • The freeways - Reminds me of southern CA except without the insane traffic. I love how the freeways here are so wide and open. Wish we had a convertible so I could get the whole experience with the top down and wind throwing my hair all over the place. It just goes together.

So its love. Everyone we know is welcome to come visit us and partake in this joy that is Arizona. And did I mention that our new place, is the same square footage AND quality of our last place in WA but, is $400 less A MONTH!? That's like 800 Snickers (in Scottees words..haha).

Too too much...

to update everyone on. It could take pages so i will have to get into summary mode to get up-to-date with our blog! We left April 1st on our loooooong roadtrip. Found the BIGGEST uhaul trailer we could find and packed it and our trailbeezy full to move down to ArIzOnA!!!

The drive didn't feel as long as it should've [maybe cause i didn't have to drive...LOVE having a designated driver - hehe!] We sang to the Moulin Rouge soundtrack a lot of the time and it took about 14 hours to get to Provo with that dang uhaul.

We got to meet up with Chris' sister Bethany for breakfast and she had a great place for us to try. Called Kneaders and has amazing all-you-can-eat French Toast! my fave!

We got to St. George Friday afternoon. It was an AWESOME weekend!!! I love being with family and especially being with ALL of my siblings together at the same time. I love those peeps so much. We went and saw Scottees new bachelor pad, spent some time at Kimmie's cute apartment, hung out with Dad and Lisa at the Southwicks and at Lisa's Easter brunch AND to top it off we got to do all that with Christie and Lucy [obsessed!] too...who came in from Texas! We have so much fun together and I also love being with all the extended family who are so kind and welcoming every time we are in town. I just love everyone!

Then we got to have an Easter dinner at Chris' grandparents house with some more extended family and his Bro Dan! Good food good people and great place to sleep before the end of our roadtrip.

Monday we took off and made our way down to Mesa, AZ. Another long drive but we made it and began our adventure in this new state. It took us a couple days to find the place we wanted and get everything sorted out with the paperwork. So many hours and one back injury later [worst timing ever for my yearly back injury to just flare up] we are in our place in Chandler, AZ and we are loving it! Well Chris is loving it....I have barely been out of the apartment because i am laying on the floor. Pathetic i know.

I hardly took any of my own pictures because i am having a bad attitude about not having my new camera yet. I'm pretty mad at myself for not getting a picture of Christie HOLDING Housher [she is SO scared of dogs..but she loves him!] So anyway...if you haven't seen the pics on facebook then check em out. Click HERE for our roadtrip pics and HERE for my sister's photo album of the weekend.

Here are some videos for everyone but especially for you Mom. If I would've recorded a little longer on Lucy opening her book you would see her chuck her bottle out of the way and start reading. Sorry. But its still cute.

Ahh to be young again

we built a FORT!

okay iiiiiiii built a fort and it was awful and not very stable. but still fun!

while packing up our place to move we just had a mattress in the living room as our couch so i thought it was the perfect opportunity.

no one wanted to help me but once it was made everyone wanted to partake in the fun.....
so typical :)
Dad was in town helping and he made CONGO BARS for the occassion. Drinks, Congs, family and a fort....anything better...i think not!
